<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Seasons greetings!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Users with "Super Administrator" rights had access to "Vault" and "Delete Files" by default. With current update, access to these two needs to be explicitly given to users. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Now, even managers can be given the option to delete files. This right needs to be explicitly given to managers. By giving this right, managers can delete any file in the service(s) that they are associated to.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Previous to this update, if you had access to "Vault" or "Delete Files", we suggest you to update user rights accordingly. to get access to these two features.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">Hope you like this update. Please share your inputs/ feedback.</span></span>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7160749292885784573.post-14380635683374026222017-07-07T03:24:00.001-07:002017-07-07T03:26:39.902-07:00Papilio Update<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Seasons greetings!</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">There are few changes to Papilio. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Notable change is introduction of GSTIN at necessary places. Now, you can store GSTIN of your client along with client information. To update all clients, download existing client information, update GSTIN for each client in the downloaded file accordingly, and upload it back. For you all using <a href="http://mulberry.papilio.co.in/" target="_blank">Mulberry</a>, the same information will automatically be updated in Mulberry as well. </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It is just the start of GST related changes in Mulberry. In coming days, Mulberry will be more GST compliant. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Thank you very much for your inputs. Please keep your suggestions flowing!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">There could be various reasons for a service to be open or cancelled or even completed. With current changes to Papilio, you can set a reason for service for being in that status. A glance at reason gives you a quick update about service. A simple example could be - A service is <b><i>open</i></b> since couple of months because "<i>Waiting for inputs</i>". Or a service is <b><i>cancelled</i></b> because it was "<i>Erroneously created</i>".</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Papilio has a defalut set of reasons for each status. You may setup your own reasons in "Configure Lists" under "Admin" -> "Settings" for each status of service.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Hope you like this update. Please share your inputs/ feedback.</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Seasons greetings!!!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">We have few new updates in Papilio worth mentioning. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<h3>
<b><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Expenses tracking</span></b></h3>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Now, you can track/ manage out of pocket expenses in Papilio. Expenses work very similar to the way <a href="http://blog.papilio.co.in/2014/10/timesheets.html" target="_blank">time sheets</a> work.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">It is just a two step process to start working with expenses:</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">1. Navigate to Admin -> Settings and enable "Expenses"</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">2. Add desired "Chargeable Expense" and "Non-chargeable Expense" codes/ categories under Admin -> Settings -> Configure Lists</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">If expenses needs to be approved, assign "Approving Manager" for each user in Papilio. If already defined for time sheets, same manager will have right to approve expenses as well.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Logout of Papilio and login again, after above changes, to effect changes.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<h3>
<b><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Service "Financials"</span></b></h3>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Estimates, invoices, and reimbursements are grouped under "Financials" of that service. With current change, based on your access rights, you will see new section/ sub-tab called "Financials" for each service.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">All information required for billing/ invoicing like actual cost of service, and expenses on providing this service will be along with billing/ invoicing section that helps you do better billing.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">As always, please share your feedback on these new features. </span>Unknownnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7160749292885784573.post-29688196406431886772014-10-09T07:57:00.001-07:002021-10-19T01:03:50.941-07:00Estimation<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Estimation
involves forecasting level and type of resources required for project
execution till closure. Many organizations would have developed
methods for arriving at project estimates based on past experience.
</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Having
said that, every project or service is unique and there will be some
level of uncertainty, thus risk, associated with each service. A tool
to define, iterate, measure, improve and streamline this process will
be very helpful in managing projects/ services in a more efficient
and productive way. You utilize such tools to transform your
organization from a "<i>GUESS</i>" based working principles
to a "MEASURED" and "ORGANIZED" organization.</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">We
are very happy to introduce you to a new and powerful addition, that
is sophisticated and robust, in Papilio, to manage estimating process
effectively and efficiently. Papilio not only provide you with
estimation, but also gives you required tools and reports to analyze
monetization of every hour that is spent for a service. It gives you
reports to understand work in progress, completed and unbilled
inventory, billed vs realized, over utilized inventory, under
utilized inventory, yield, variance at multiple levels and many more
insights into every service/ client/ employee of your organization.</span></div>
<h2 class="western">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: small;">
Setup</span></h2>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Estimating
requires setup of following information -
</span></div>
<ol style="text-align: left;">
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>Enable</b> "Estimation"</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Defining <b>levels</b> within the organization</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Defining <b>hourly rates</b> for each level
</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>Associating user</b> to a level</span></li>
<li><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Give access to <b>additional right</b> - "Access to financials"</span></li>
</ol>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>1.
Enable "Estimation"</b></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Under
"Settings", enable "Estimation" (by selecting
"Yes"). Anytime, to disable, select "No". This
will enable all features related to "Estimation". Logout
and login again to see changes related to Estimation.</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Note
that this setup can be done by only users having "Super
Administrator" rights. Read further to setup this information.
</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>2.
Defining Levels:</b></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Each
staff is associated with a level. These levels needs to be defined
first.
</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Under
"Settings", click on "Configure Lists" under
"Categories, Service Types and Lists". Here, you are
presented with a list of lists. Choose "Staff Level". Click
on "Add a new item" to add level.
</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">For
example, staff levels could be like - "Jr. Article", "Sr.
Article", "Paid Assistant", "Team Lead",
"Manager", "Senior Manager", "Partner"
etc.,</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">You
can order this list by dragging and dropping each of the items in
that list.</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>3.
Hourly Rates</b></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Each
level has a rate associated it. Define rates for each of this staff
level under "Admin" -> "Your Company" ->
"Rate List". Click on "Rate List" to see list of
staff that is defined under settings. For each staff level, define
<b>hourly</b> rates.
</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>4.
Associating user to level</b></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Edit
each user profile and choose appropriate level and save profile.
Doing so, you associate each user to a level and in turn, each user
level has hourly rate defined.</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Above
mentioned four steps comprise all necessary base settings to be done
to setup Estimation.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">5. Access to <b>additional right</b></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This right helps user to define "Target Recovery", provision to view Estimated and Actual service cost. This right is listed under "Administrator" rights. So, please be choosy in giving this right as users having this right will have access to certain financial information, which you might not want to disclose.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<h3 class="western">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: small;">
Working with Estimation</span></h3>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Another
change related to Estimation is actual estimation of number of hours
required to complete and close a service. This may include multiple
levels of users working on a service (like partner, assistants,
manager, team lead, finance team, QC team etc.,) from initiation to
complete and closure. Also, you can input "Estimated Bill
Amount". You can view and change these, under the people tab of the service.
</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">While
associating users to a service, enter number of estimated hours
required to be spent by each user. This will compute estimated cost
of service based on level of user associated to the service (Rate
defined for each user is multiplied with number of hours). Note that
number of estimated hours can be modified. And this will modify
estimated cost of service accordingly.
</span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Estimation
combined with Timesheets is a powerful system.
As users enters the timesheet, the actual vs. estimated unfolds. This can be seen at multiple levels - service, category and client.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
Multiple reports are being written to incorporate this, and they will be coming out in the following days.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 11pt;"><br /></span></span></div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; font-weight: normal;">For
a services organization, Time is the main and crucial resource. We
had many suggestions, from you, to improvise and bring in a mechanism
where, every hour spent in work is captured in a more meaningful way.
We spent considerable amount of time to bring the best way of
capturing and analyzing this important resource called - Time.</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; font-weight: normal;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">A
major change that is being introduced, is changing the way time is
captured, and analyzed. Following are two major changes from concept
of Time:</span></div>
<div style="margin-bottom: 0in; text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;"><b>"Categorizing
Time" </b>for certain major activities within your organization.
</span>
</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">All
this while, time has been entered in service for each task or for a
specific service. Though it serves basic purpose of capturing time,
it was lost in many other numbers. What we mean here is, time entered
was not grouped in a meaningful way. Imagine if you wanted to know
how much time has gone towards "vouching" alone, or how
much of time in client meetings across services, and across clients,
during a certain season, or how much of this time is chargeable or
non-chargeable. There was no mechanism to know answers to these
questions.</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">Secondly,
Time spent in an organization is not just on services, but for
various other activities of organization. Some of it would include
marketing, sales, CSR, internal meetings, trainings, seminars,
participating in recruitment activities like interviews, resume
scrutiny, etc., or performance reviews, unplanned time outs, team
meetings, so on and so forth. <i>Till
now</i>, it was
captured in various ways by different organization. Either by
creating multiple services for each such activities and log time
against this services or having one general service where time spent
for all such activities was grouped. </span>
</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">To
address above mentioned concerns, "Time" in Papilio is
revisited and revised completely. We are introducing "Time
Sheet", a group of time logs. Also, time logs can further be
classified as "Chargeable" or "Non-chargeable",
"Regular" or "Overtime". </span>
</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;"><b>"Approval"</b>
of Time Sheets</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Time
entered by various levels of people on activities were disclosed by
executives and the same was not verified or approved by managers. Due
to this, time entered was never checked for accuracy and secondly,
there was no regularity and discipline in entering time.</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size: 10pt;">We
are happy to introduce approval mechanism for each such submitted
time sheets. Managers will have option to approve or reject time
sheets. </span>
</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">These
new features are detailed in the following section:</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<b style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></b></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<b style="font-size: 10pt;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Time Sheet</span></b></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">Timesheets
are group of time logs for a week. Each timesheet starts with Monday
as first day of week. Each timesheet will have multiple entries. Each
entry corresponds to a service or activity, for which, time can be
entered for the entire week. Each entry can belong to any of the
following types -</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">1.
Chargeable - Billable time, spent during regular working hours</span></div>
<div align="JUSTIFY" style="margin-bottom: 0in;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt;">2.

<div style="font-family: inherit;">
We keep repeating to all our friends, family and clients that internet security at their premises is not difficult to get compromised. Few people argue they have best firewalls and best wi-fi settings, but we persist to make them understand. </div>
<div style="font-family: inherit;">
<br />
Recently I came across this interesting article that says "<a href="http://blogs.computerworld.com/android/22806/google-knows-nearly-every-wi-fi-password-world" target="_blank">Google knows nearly every 'Wi-Fi' password in the world</a>". Even WPA2 encryption or long random passwords offer no protection and easy to break. And with current news of NSA, CIA and FBI are tracking everybody's data, you will never know if your Wi-Fi passwords are already known to many others than just you. Go read this article to know more.</div>
<div style="font-family: inherit;">
<br /></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">What is important to understand with respect to security is that its only as secure as your weakest link. The data bleed can happen anywhere in the chain of connections from your harddisk to the servers that you access and work with. The primary reason why we built Papilio on top of the </span><a href="https://aws.amazon.com/security/" style="font-family: inherit;" target="_blank">AWS infrastructure</a><span style="font-family: inherit;"> is the </span><a href="https://aws.amazon.com/compliance/" style="font-family: inherit;" target="_blank">confidence</a><span style="font-family: inherit;"> that they give us with respect to security.</span></div>

Couple of new features that were long due.<br />
One - You can push tasks into services that are already created via the templates they use. Lets say you need to add a new tasklist to statutory audit services for all your clients. All you need to do is, add the tasklist to the audit template that was used to create these services and push them to all the open services in one click. Next, replacing a member from a service is better now. You can choose the services from which to replace from.<br />
<h4 style="color: #202020; display: block; font-family: Arial; font-size: 22px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 14px; margin-bottom: 10px; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 0; text-align: left;">

<span style="color: #505050; font-size: 14px; font-weight: normal; line-height: 21px;">The monsoon showers is escaping us this year, but its raining features at Papilio. There have been so many updates since I last communicated with you. You can find detailed description of some of the features at the <a href="http://papilio.us4.list-manage1.com/track/click?u=47ff29afbbb7a9541ed9bf954&id=8c5005988e&e=f626b48d25" style="color: #336699; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: underline;" target="_blank">support site</a>. Also, I will make sure to write to you more often, at least once a month, with what might be coming up in the immediate future. You get to vote on features that you think are important to you by going to the <a href="http://papilio.us4.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=47ff29afbbb7a9541ed9bf954&id=734ac6e505&e=f626b48d25" style="color: #336699; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: underline;" target="_blank">feature request</a> page. You can reach this place by clicking on "Have an idea?" link on the top-right corner of the application. </span><br /> <br /> <span style="color: #505050; font-size: 14px; font-weight: normal; line-height: 21px;">But before I jump into the features I want to share that I am humbled by your big heartedness.<br /> The case in point, is <b> CA Guruprasad Makam</b> from Guru and Jana who graciously offered his company's Papilio process templates for sharing with everybody. <b>Thank you Sir!</b> You can find them in the template library and there are some more to come. It would be wonderful to see more of this sharing which would help the entire community in general. We are still working on the mechanics of sharing your templates automatically from within the app, but in the meantime, you can write to me and I will be glad to include it in the library.</span></h3>
<h4 style="color: grey; display: block; font-family: Arial; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 14px; margin-bottom: 1%; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 2%; text-align: left;">
New Features</h4>
<ul>
<li> You can upload your holiday list into Papilio. That way Papilio will know not to set your due dates on your holidays or sundays when it recurs the services.</li>
<li> You can download your user list as an excel spreadsheet now.</li>
<li> Replace a member in a service with another across all services in one click. This feature still needs more work but the basics of it are in place. You can find it under the people tab next to remove link. </li>
<li> For those of you who receive official messages on multiple email addresses, you had to forward it to your email that is registered in Papilio first to be able to send it into Papilio. This wastes time. But now you can specify upto three aliases in Papilio under preferences which will enable you to send the email directly to Papilio. The system will accept your mail if its sent from the email address specified either as your email or as an alias.</li>
<li> 'Services' and 'My tasks' pages are now improved</li>
<li> Tasklist page within a service is much better and has a neat filter to see all the completed tasks. It now shows you the name of person to whom a task was assigned when that person is not the one who completed it.</li>
<li> Services are marked with an icon if they are a part of the recur group.</li>
<li> Adding timelog for any given day used to take ridiculously long. Its been rewritten to make it much faster. </li>
<li> And many more minor fixes too small for mention...</li>
</ul>
<h4 style="color: grey; display: block; font-family: Arial; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 14px; margin-bottom: 1%; margin-left: 0; margin-right: 0; margin-top: 2%; text-align: left;">
Need for speed</h4>
A lot of performance fixes that we continue to make is speeding up the app. These last week numbers from <a href="http://papilio.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=47ff29afbbb7a9541ed9bf954&id=8e2e717b39&e=f626b48d25" style="color: #336699; font-weight: normal; text-decoration: underline;" target="_blank">Newrelic</a> show a sub-second overall response time with an apdex score of 0.93 which is great. There is still work to do and we will continue to make the experience better for you.<br />

<span style="color: #606060; font-size: 16px; line-height: 16px;">So, Whats Next?</span></h4>
<div style="color: #505050; font-family: Arial; font-size: 14px; line-height: 150%; text-align: left;">
Some of the things that we have been working this month -</div>
<ul>
<li> A better way to attach files and a easier way to search them</li>
<li> Ability to create a single type of service for multiple clients in one shot</li>
<li> Ability to push a tasklist from within a template to all open services which uses that template</li>
</ul>
Your feedback is what has made Papilio what it is today and what it will be tomorrow. Thank you for your time.<br />

Today from 10:30AM to 12:05PM, Papilio was unavailable to its users for the first time after it was launched in Aug 2009. I wish this hadn't happened, but like every other breakdown, we could only be prepared for it, not avoid it. The one thing that comes to my mind is the <a href="http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/LeakyAbstractions.html" target="_blank">Law of Leaky Abstractions</a>, and today I found myself looking into the bare metal that we had so taken for granted all this time.<br />
<br />
This has been one long run. The bright side of this is that we were back up in no time, even when there was a hardware failure (as we have been told). The beauty of cloud computing and the availability of resources when required helped us bring back the app online in no time. All the preparation for a break-down has paid off in a way.<br />

<p>"It doesn't matter how many designers, supply chains, workers, materials and factories were involved--if the box is improperly sealed, that's how you will be judged."</p>
<p>CA Guruprasad shared a very similar thought during our flight back from Pune. It doesn't matter how many man hours you spend on the audit, if your report doesn't look professional with nice binding and proper font, it will be not be given it's worth.</p>
